The only game to take place last Sunday was the Ian Gorman Memorial Trophy semi-final between first division champions JFC United and premiership champions Hardwick Social Club. Hardwick got off to a flying start when Sam Ions gave them the lead after only two minutes. JFC United had a great chance to equalise on 15 minutes only to see three attempts cleared off the line by Hardwick defenders. On 22 minutes Hardwick extended the lead when a long clearance from Darren White was flicked on by Steven Roberts and Sam Ions was on hand to drive the ball home. On 33 minutes Roberts was fouled in the box and Ions was given the chance to complete his hat-trick but his shot hit the post and the ball was cleared. On 35 minutes Hardwick extended their lead when a corner from Charlie Raby was crossed to the back post and Tom Coulthard thundered the ball home giving the keeper no chance. Right on half time Jonathan Barber broke clear of the defence and his shot was tipped around the post by White for a corner. In the second half JFC United got back into the game on 50 minutes when a long range shot from Famara Jatta beat White to make it 3-1. Hardwick continued to dominate and extended the lead on 81 minutes when a right wing corner from Michael Arthur found Andrew McGirr at the far post and he volleyed home and on 87 minutes Arthur completed the scoring with a 20 yard free kick to make the final score 5-1. Hardwick Social Club now meet Thornaby Oddfellows in the final at Stockton Town on the 18 May kick-off 7pm.
